Hypertension

Hi

My dad was diagnosised with Parkinson’s 5 years ago. Although he had been doing well, he now has Postural hypertension.

The neurologist has prescribed low dose Minodrine to support with this.

Just wanting to see if this has happened to any one else before? And whether the medication has helped?

Hello @BeccaM, welcome to the forum and thank you for your first post. We hope you find it a helpful community to connect, ask questions and share experiences with people who really understand.

Thank you for sharing your dad’s experience. We’re glad he has a neurologist who is supporting him with the postural hypotension. Midodrine is a medication that is prescribed to help with this.

We’ve got information on low blood pressure, including postural hypotension and how to manage it, on our website, which you might find useful: Low blood pressure | Parkinson's UK

We hope the community can also share their own experiences.

Take care :blue_heart:

I was put on Ramipril a month ago, have just had to do another week of BP readings and it’s looking like they are going to up the dose.

I have found sleeping slightly sat up helps.. I have an electric recliner bed and chair so this is quite easy for me to achieve.
