Interesting news soon

Hey everyone, hope you all not too bad…

GDNF trial results on their way.

Results from pioneering clinical trials that delivered an experimental treatment, called GDNF, directly to the brain in people with Parkinson’s are due to be published on Wednesday 27 February .

The £2.5 million study funded by Parkinson’s UK with support from The Cure Parkinson’s Trust aimed to investigate whether boosting the levels of a naturally-occurring protein, Glial Cell Line Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF), can regenerate dying brain cells and reverse the condition, which is something that no existing treatment can do.

A two-part BBC2 documentary about this trial will air soon after results are published but final dates are not yet confirmed. Updates on both the results and the programmes will be posted on our website.

Cheers,
