Keeping Mum Busy

Mum is 81 and has PD for approx eight years. Following several falls and some mini strokes, she is in a care home and is bored sillyfrown

She has always sewed, clothes, soft furnishings, embroidered, patchwork to a high standard. She cannot manage this at all now. She can no longer do decoupage or other fiddly things. Knitting is a problem and it is more like knotting!

The home allows her to tinker in the garden but she has to have carer with her because of the falls and their time is limited.

if any one has any ideas about things that mum could do we would be so grateful. She is frail but her mind is bright. It is so sad to see this very active busy lady sitting "waiting to die" as she puts it. Are there specialist helpers or visitors that could be drafted in?

thank you - all ideas will be considered

Hi Terribelle, it might be helpful for you to talk this through with someone on our helpline. We're on 0808 800 0303 (free from UK landlines and some mobile networks - more info on this and opening times at www.parkinsons.org.uk/helpline).

I hope this helps, and all the very best to you and your mum.

Can anyone else share any ideas with Terribelle?
