lightheaded and swimmy

I was diagnosed with PD in March 2025 privately, since then I have been on co-caroldopa which has made a difference to a lot of my symptoms. I now have an NHS appointment with PD specialist March 5th 2026.

My main issue is feeling lightheaded, swimmy and unbalanced when out for a walk, does anyone have the same issues ?

Hello Martyni,

Welcome to this forum - I always read up here on the things that are troubling me or are of interest.

I wondered if you were experiencing side effects or adapting to the co-caroldopa and this was making you feel swimmy? I say this because I certainly felt that way for months after starting Levadopa therapy - but can report that it has become less of a problem as time has gone by.

Having said that, I think it’s always important to report the sensations we are feeling to the GP in case it could be something other than PD?

Hi MARTYNI

I am also on Caroldopa, and experience the same symptoms, lightheadedness and feeling drunk wandering to one side when out walking. I spoke to my consultant about this just the other day. all she said was that perhaps I should use a walking stick for safety. It will be interesting to here what your specialist advises.
