Losing weight

Has anyone had problems with weight loss i want to put it on and back to normal

I am sorry to see no one has responded to you. My husband has just been diagnosed with PD and has lost a significant amount of weight too. I’m desperate to get him back to a better weight - anyone help???

Welcome to the forum, Liblady

We understand how difficult it is to come to terms with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s, both for your husband, but you’ll find a lot of helpful info on our website, as well as, no doubt, some great support here on the forum.

We also have a ‘newly diagnosed’ page on our website that has of information about our support service and local groups which may be helpful to you and your husband. You can find more info on this here - Newly diagnosed with Parkinson's | Parkinson's UK

In terms of diet and weight, we also have a section on Diet, which may also be helpful for you both: Diet and Parkinson's | Parkinson's UK

You can also call us at 0808 800 0303 for free and confidential one-on-one support.

Best wishes

Zofia

Hello Caz & Liblady.

Sorry to hear you are both concerned about weight loss. It seems to be quite a common occurrence in PD. Our PD nurse says she rarely sees overweight patients.

My husband has PD & type 1 diabetes so constantly balancing carb and calorie intake with timing of insulin & Parkinsons meds.

The Diet section on the site should help, also a call to your PD nurse.

In the meantime can I recommend full fat milk wherever possible. Peanut butter on buttered toast is nicely high in calories.
