Hi there, I’m writing to help a friend who has PD and is not on computer.
He has skin cancers and melanomas being removed continually.
I read that it is unknown why PD and melanomas seem to go hand in hand.
I also noticed that people with skin cancer problems should not be on Madopar.
If anyone has any suggestions or alternatives to Madopar I would really appreciate your comments.
Hi @Surfmore123,
Welcome to the community. I’m very sorry to hear that your friend has been having such a difficult time. It is very kind of you to try and help them, and we are glad to have you here, as well as your friend (in spirit). Please feel comfortable looking for insights and asking questions - I know our forum members will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.
If you would like to read more on Parkinson’s medications, we have a section on the website that covers this, including Madopar: https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/parkinsons-drugs. You can also reach out to our helpline, where our advisers would be more than happy to help explain Madopar and other drug options to you. You can call them on 0808 800 0303 or by email at [email protected].
I think the best option, however, is to speak with a Parkinson’s nurse, specialist, or GP. They will have the best insights both into treatment options as well as next steps for your friend. If your friend does not have access to one of these individuals in their area our helpline may also be able to assist with this.
Best wishes,
Joy
