Magnesium glycinate

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started taking magnesium glycinate to help with my sleep and occasional muscle cramps. I heard it’s supposed to be gentler on the stomach compared to other forms of magnesium, and it’s been great for relaxation so far. But I’m wondering if anyone else here has tried it and noticed significant improvements?

I got mine from AOB Nutrition, and the quality seems excellent—it doesn’t upset my stomach like some other supplements I’ve tried. However, I’m curious about others’ experiences. Have you found magnesium glycinate to be effective, or do you prefer other types like citrate or malate?

I’d also love to hear how long it took for you to feel any noticeable benefits. Are there any tips or tricks I should know to maximize its effects?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Hi take a magnesium complex 2000mg, so to hit all area’s and absorption. To be honest didnt find any effect. Just recently this week ive introduced GABA( Gamma Aminobutyric acid) 750mg and L-Theanine 400mg to go with the magnesium and hr or so before bed, to see if it settles tremors quicker and aid sleep. Time will tell , on my cocktail

Hi there,

That’s an interesting combination you’re trying out! I’ve been experimenting with magnesium myself—currently taking magnesium glycinate since it’s supposed to be easier on the stomach and good for relaxation. I haven’t gone as high as 2000mg, though. Did you feel it wasn’t absorbing properly, or was it just not giving the effects you were looking for?

As for GABA and L-Theanine, I’ve heard good things about that combo for calming the nervous system. I’m curious to hear how it works for you over time, especially with the tremors. Sleep support has been a big reason I stick with magnesium, but I’ve thought about adding something like Theanine to see if it helps me unwind faster at night.

Let us know how your “cocktail” works out—it’s always helpful to hear real experiences when trying to find the right mix!

Hi there the latest one which reaches the brain barrier Mg L Threonate - not cheap but I get mine from a company called Cytoplan.

Hi, i found i just wasnt getting the desired effect. As for absorption i couldnt say. Only been on my current cocktail a week, so time will tell. If it works i will for sure post it up :grin:everything just up in the air at moment, as ive come off rotigotine patches that were prescribed as they were doing nothing. So it can cause worse issues than they were supposed to control.

Thanks for the info, just read up on it, so once my current magnesium runs out, im going to change to L Threonate👍

Please be careful though as it is very very powerful - and can thin the blood - I have been cutting the top of the capsule and putting the powder into a dish and my husband is picking up the powder with a clean finger (and I mean thoroughly washed hands each time) and it is working well - he has now started to be able to get up from a sitting position more easily. Please be careful cutting top off the capsule as the powder does seem to ‘explode’ so get the dish ready to take it and be careful cutting off the tip that you don’t cut yourself and the tip flies off like a missile. But it is amazing stuff but I am not confident to give it to hubby in one go just yet but he is getting there taking it slowly throughout the day and feels much more stable. Good luck and keep/get well all !

Thanks for the heads up. Glad youre husbands getting some relief using it . Got a months supply of my old magnesium supplements to use yet but looking forward to seeing what difference is when i come to use it :+1:

Hi

I’ve looked on cytoplan for the magnesium L threonate and can’t find it listed on there.

I take a teaspoon of Magnesium Nitrate at bedtime to relax my muscles and prevent Dystonia. As a by product it seems to help with preventing constipation.

I’ve looked at do many different brands my mind has got giddy. Most of them seem to have oxide as part of ingredients and pharmacist advised against it.

What brand do you use, please?

My cocktail, seems to have made no difference, to settling tremor, so back to the drawing board

Hi iv tried magnesium glycinate for my husband he’s been on it for a month but iv not noticed any difference. He has Parkinson’s & Lewy body dementia

Try coconut oil in black coffee it helps neurological conditions improve as it has the essential fatty acids required.
Red light therapy can improve brain functions using photomodulation helmet improves cells energy. You could look at methylene blue check on drug indications
With the doctor first. YouTube is a good source of information

After taking the Magnesium L-Threonate now for 18 days, I can say that I’m noticing a positive difference. I was taking painkillers left right and centre to manage the tightness and discomfort in my legs. I’ve now been off painkillers for 6 days, I’m not completely discomfort free but it’s very much more manageable. I’ve pushed myself at work today cleaning floors (I’m a cleaner) and although I ache, I haven’t felt I need to reach for painkillers .

I’m only taking 1 per day instead of the recommended 2, as I want to see how well I can cope on that dosage. So far so good
