Hi all

Has anyone been means tested?  My Dad is currently applying for a disabled facilities grant to have a vertical lift installed and possibly adapt the bathroom.  On the test form it says that if their income is less than the amount the government says they could live on they don't have to contribute.  Does anyone know what that is? 

Also, if they have to contribute do they have to pay up front or in installments?  My parents don't have much savings so I'm trying to gather as much info as possible so I can put their minds to rest.

The best thing to do for all your queries about help and benefits etc., is to phone the number given at the top of the forum page ie. 0808 800 0303 there will be some one there who will be able to give you all the advice you need
