Medication and mealtimes

My husband has been taking MADOPAR for 4 years after his diagnosis. For 3 years he has taken the 100ml/25ml 4 times a day. Because of hallucinations the dose was halved to 50ml/12.5ml. He was diagnosed with dementia two years ago. At the beginning of this year I asked if he could stop taking the 8:00am pill as he was falling into a deep sleep 10 minutes after and couldn’t wake him till nearly lunchtime. Since missing the 8:00am pill he has been so much better in the morning. He can actually eat his breakfast without falling asleep into it.. However, the lunch time pill and 4:00pm pill have the same effect, 10 - 20 minutes after he is fast asleep for at least a couple of hours and goes into zombie like mode. This problem affects his mealtimes. He tries to eat a hot meal with his fingers rather than a knife an fork and half of it goes on the table and floor. Just the same with a sandwich at lunchtime. I have told the Parkinson’s specialist nurse, by email, this but will have to wait till middle of October for a telephone conversation with her. He is housebound but the nurses don’t make home visits. Does anyone else have this situation and how do you get round having meals.

Hello , not too sure where you are .. insist on a home visit as your husband is housebound.. I know ours do that in Lincolnshire. ¿
It’s disgusting .. having to wait. Until October.. our nurses are just as bad , when I ask for help via phone or email … It’s days until we get a reply..
Unfortunately I think they don’t have the staff to deal with the amount of Parkinson’s patients.. the amount of staff stays the same but Parkinson’s diagnosis goes up by around 30 a day .. !

Is it just the one medication that is given you said dementia what medication is being used for that ! As one type interacts with dopamine and reduces it which may .. not saying it is giving you the problem of over sleeping. No mobility.
