Medication

Does anyone feel there meds actually make them worse? I don t mean side effects just your original symptoms that meds are supposed to help actually get worse

Hi

If the original symptoms are not getting better or are made worse by the medication it could be a couple of things. Perhaps you need a change of medication or perhaps your original diagnosis was not correct. People with Parkinsonism as a symptom of another condition, such as MSA or PSP, often do not react to the usual levodopa medications. Can you talk to your neurologist or Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist about your situation?

Hello Punkyfsh - we definitely think you should speak to your GP or Parkinson’s professional regarding this. 100% worth looking into.

Hi Punkyfish,

Yes, absolutely medications can make your dad feel worse.
Remember that different medications can affect people in different ways so you must definitely speak to your neuro to change the meds and try something else.

my dad?

I was diagnosed by Dat scan; how can that be incorrect?

A DatScan is not necessarily diagnostic for Parkinson’s Disease. It can indicate Aytypical Parkinsonism (see Steve’s postings). It can also produce a negative result when the diagnosis is still Parkinson’s Disease.
