Hi there. I’m 76, diagnosed with Parkinsonism 3 years ago. I suffer from freezing, getting worse now. As well as he usual problems (going through doorways. turning corners, walking towards something, etc.) I now find that when walking up small inclines, or the surface i’m walking on changes between rough/smooth, or just randomly, I stop and need to remember some action to start again.
My question is, is there any medicine that helps with freezing? I currently take Madopar (3x 100/25 mg). My neurologist (not a Parkinson’s expert) suggests trying Amantidine, but there looks like a lot of potential side effects to worry about.

Hi @Isembard
I take Madopar as a fast acting emergency dose when I experience wear off which makes my body go rigid, particularly upper body. It helps a lot.
I also take Amantadine for Dyskinesia. I was initially told to take 200mg daily BUT…. This caused a few heart problems, including palpitations, chest pain and Hypotension (low blood pressure). Long story but eventually these issues were narrowed down to Amantadine. I was told to half the dose to 100mg which helped. Cardio issues disappeared. Hope this helps.
Cheers
