Hi i Have just joined and was wondering if somone could help. I had deep brain stimulation in 2012 and had a battery change in may of this year. I now have the medtronic charging system.
If anyone has this system they will know that the 8 bars should be filled at the bottom to charge efficiently. However there is only 2 of my bars filling up The odd time i would get 4 filling. About 2 weeks after i had the new battery fitted i contacted the hospital and the neuro surgeon told me it could take up to a month for the swelling to go down and then it would fully charge. Long story short 7 months later i’m still sitting with just 2 bars filling. and having to charge every day
Hi @liz1 and welcome to the Forum!
Hopefully other Forum members who have the medtronic charging system can share their experience and give you some advice. I just wondered whether you got back in touch with your neuro surgeon when things didn’t change after the swelling went down. If you can’t get in touch with him, you could try ringing our helpline for advice. The helpline number is 0808 800 0303 and you can ring Monday-Friday: 9am-7pm and Saturday: 10am-2pm, but please note that it’s closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
I really hope you find the right help soon so you can go for longer than one day between charges.
Best wishes,
Mara

Hi I had the new battery fitted in May After 2 weeks i contacted the neuro surgeon again who said give it a month. After giving it about 2 months contcted hospital again. They did an xray and everything looked normal. This time they said it might take 3 or 4 months.
In September i had an appointment with my neuro and they arranged for the medtronic rep to be there She said that by christmas it should be well on the way to fully charge
Xmas is here and still no change
