Hi. Mum has lived with PD for 15yrs. Any recommendations for a basic but sensible mobile phone please? I think I’ve seen ones that are voice activated……? Thanks in advance.
Consider the Jitterbug Smart3 or Doro 7030. Both offer large buttons, simple interfaces, and some voice-activated features. They’re great for seniors with Parkinson’s Disease. Also, check if your carrier offers any specific models for accessibility. Good luck!
Really appreciate your reply bobbybrown111. I’ve just ordered a Doro7030. You have saved me so much time. Have a great weekend.
I know your post is a year ago re the Doro phone but wondered of this worked for your mum. Mine is struggling with a smartphone due to being 85 and not into technology and the constant tremors. Text messages from her are difficult to decipher.
Would you recommend the Doro. Thanks.
Hello,
You might not be aware you can buy a retro phone, very similar to the old landline phone but its a SIM of choice that goes into it. Obviously you would try choose a plan with little or no texts or data as that wont be used. Generally you can save a few numbers in it. Maybe something to research.
The Doro has a strong reputation as a mobile for elderly or less confident users but I like these sorts of mobiles, few buttons very clear what they do, big buttons and a good size to hold.
Also, it took some doing but my elderly friend just wanted the mobile to be an emergency phone - she doesn’t do technology except through me lol - and managed to get her mobile just to be a phone although I had to say she doesn’t have an email address etc several times.
