Hi i posted on here a few weeks ago about having a dat scan. I had the scan on the 4th of april. I rang my neurologist secretary last week she informed me he was behind and hasnt looked at the scan yet. I received a text today for a neurology appointment with him next week. Seem quite fast anyone with any experience ov this? Surley they would just write to you if all was good?
Hello Paul … The neurologist will most likely have your datscan results with him and will explain the results to you and your treatment options.
I’m sure you’ll get medication whether the datscan is negative or positive.
Best wishes

Hi Paul
Whether your DatScan is positive or negative you will still need to treat the symptoms that got you to your neurologist.
As Steve said, your neurologist can look at treatment options or, possibly, more tests.
Take care
Doug
It sounds as if he has the results which need a discussion with you on how to proceed. After my dat scan my appointment was months away so I rang up for an earlier appointment and got it within a week. Good job I did as the dat scan showed very little dopamine. I’m now on replacement therapy of sinemet and it’s helping. I’ve had severe stiffness across both thighs and found it difficult to walk with so much pain. I can walk now but still have mobility problems due mostly to my arthritis in my hip. I can’t get a hip replacement until I’ve lost some weight. Life is cruel. But I do understand that the heavier I am the more risk there is on the operation table.
Hello Paulf85,
Thank you for sharing this with us. We understand this may be new and cause some discomfort but we are always here to support. Definitely keep us posted with how the appointment goes and reach out whenever you may need it.
All the best

3 weeks ago i was diagnosed with young onset parkinsons due to my dat scan and physical symptoms. Although not really the best of news, its a relief to know what is wrong with me and i can learn how to live/deal with it.
