New drug could be a breakthrough

Scientists at The University of Leicester are conducting tests on a chemical compound which appears to prevent the death of brain tissue in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Huntington's. The discovery showed that all brain cell death from prion disease in mice could be prevented. Work on the new drug is still very much in the early stages but it is being hailed as an exiting and historic moment in medical research.
