New member. Diagnosed 8 years ago

Hello. My name is Niko. I was diagnosed 8 years ago when I was 42 years old.
I am married with 3 kids.
I can’t say I have been coping with the disease as well as I wish I could have.

I am on Azilect (1 mg) and Stalevo (4x75mg).

I had a terrible experience with agonists. It felt like my character had changed.

Recently I started a blog (http://livingwithparkinson.com) . It allows me to express my frustration.

I spend a lot of time researching alternative methods. I tried to switch to mucuna recently by dropping stalevo. I guess I didn’t follow a good protocol, it didn’t help much.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself.

I wish everyone calm and happiness

Hi Niko,
It’s always a hard road, especially when you have kids. I’ve got 3 boys myself.
It’s good that you’re searching out new therapies or treatments. There’s something for everyone, unfortunately not all works for everyone.
Finally though they have realised that exercise and diet do have impact on PD. Let us know if you find anything new out there!

thank you for your kind message. I will keep trying until I find the best solution.

Hi Niko have you thought of inquiring about DBS? I had it done recently & my medication has been cut down by half and I now have much more confidence and am able to go out and not worry about freezing. It’s not for everyone I know and doesn’t always work, but when it’s a chance to get a lot of your life back it’s something to think about.
