New symptoms

Hello everyone,

So I’ve been experiencing a new symptom and was wondering if anyone else experiences this….. so this has happened a couple times now but don’t know if it’s linked, I was sitting watching tv and all of a sudden my eye lid just dropped stayed shut for a couple of seconds the opened and then it happened again when I cooking the kids dinner …has this happened to anybody else?.

Hi Mimmi,

Thank you for contributing to the forum, I’m sure our lovely members will be able to share their experiences with this soon!

Involuntary closure of the eyelids can happen for some people with Parkinson’s. Eyelid apraxia occurs when the muscles that open the eyelids have trouble opening. This often happens during speech. Sometimes the eyelids might close completely and stop you being able to see properly. In mild cases of eyelid apraxia, simply rubbing the eyelids might help. You may find the information on this page helpful.

We recommend raising this with your doctor or healthcare professional if you have noticed a change in your symptoms. If you do need any further information our helpline is always there. Please do give us a call on 0808 800 0303 :blue_heart:

Best wishes,
