Not really new but returning

Hi folks. I’m Simon, 51 and live on the Cumbrian coast. Diagnosed 2017 but haven’t been on here for a long time so thought I’d better re-introduce myself!

Still work full time and try to keep in shape, not sure how much it helps but it’s one of my coping mechanisms. Another is art.

Dbs

Welcome back Simon, we’re really glad to have you here. We hope you find the Forum useful and an enjoyable place to be. Please do reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you Ben

Hi si ,
Keeping active and fit helps slow the PD progression I believe.

Well done

I also haven’t been on here for a long time, been busy trying to outrun Parkinson’s. It was always going to catch me eventually. I have recently had the DBS operation. Although I new 3people who had it done. I was so unprepared it is unreal. I had the procedure 7th July this year. I know it’s my brain they operated on, but I am so good at bouncing back but this has floored me. I have terrible brain fog, some goes wrong and I am off having a full blown panic attack, even something minor can set me off. It’s like I have had been replaced. I was a social butterfly always trying to see the funny side of my condition. Now I am a virtual recluse and feel near to tears. I lived at the gym before, now I keep being told not to lift more than 10lbs. Has anyone else felt like this after the op? Please tell me it’s temporary. I also am having trouble with the leads the whole area is swollen and feels like it is really pulling on my chest, they feel far to tight. It is not so much it pulling it is also quite painful. Every time I phone the Hospital, they say it is normal, but my 3 friends who had DBS you can barely see them?? please help
