Hello,
We have got to the point where I cannot see how my 93 year old father with Parkinson’s who is currently in hospital will be able to return home to my 92 year old differently frail mother. So can anyone share pointers to care/nursing homes around Croydon. Fortunately finances allow any option, but somewhere that understands Parkinson’s is paramount.
Thank you for your advice
Hi and welcome to the forum, @Tixall. This is a friendly and supportive space and I hope that our members will have recommendations for you shortly.
Your dad and mum are lucky to have you looking out for their interests, but this is likely a challenging and emotional decision for you. If you do a search here on the forums or on our website, you’ll see useful information and conversation on care home options. You might head to Home care and care homes | Parkinson's UK to see what advice there is.
As well, our helpline advisers will be happy to help with any concerns you may have that are specific to Parkinson’s. Call them on 0808 800 0303 during the week and on Saturday mornings.
Take care

Hello,
If you have a look at above website you can input a postcode and it will list out the ones in that area. I think you can also read inspection reports and it will tell you the rating of that property. Each one will also outline the type of patients they take and PD can specifically be listed there. If you find one that is nearby that doesn’t list PD, think about contacting them anyway and ask if you could view the place and meet the manager. Care is such an individual thing they may still be able to accommodate your dad.
