Off Sick after DBS

I work for a government agency and have just had DBS and switched on 2 days ago. Can you believe it, have today been referred to Occ Health whilst TRYING to recuperate. This has made me really upset and my PD is off the scale. I am supposed to go to hospital tomorrow again, but am so upset, am unable to travel so will be missing my appointment. I can’t afford to give up work and am being felt like I am “pulling wool over their eyes” My sick record is really good and after 28 years service, am really disgusted.

Hi @LittleMixWorry,

It is truly unfortunate that you are having to go through this with your employer, especially when you’re in such a vulnerable state following your recent DBS surgery. It sounds like you may be getting treated unfairly and we have a lot of information on how best to approach these type of employment issues on our website which you can find here - https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/work-and-parkinsons.

I’d also recommend that you get in touch with your local adviser, so they can assist you with writing a formal letter of complaint about this and if this situation becomes more complex it could be passed onto a benefit and employment adviser. Please click the following link and enter your postcode to find your nearest adviser - https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/helpline-and-local-advisers.

If there’s anything else we can do to support you on this, please let me know.

Best wishes,
Reah
