Apologies this maybe a long post. My husband started with back pain 2 January which felt like an electric shock (upper back). Managed to see a GP on the 6 January who didn’t examine him but suggested hot water bottles, ibuprofen gel and paracetamol. Paid to see a physiotherapist on the 7 January who told us his muscle was in spasm. He couldn’t even lie down on the bed for the massage. On the 8 January we had a further telephone consultation with the GP and he prescribed dihydracodiene. I went to get this but my husband rang me while I was at the chemist telling me he was in agony with a crushing pain in his ribs and he needed me to call an ambulance. I rushed home and called 999. The ambulance arrived and did an ECG which was okay. On Saturday 10 January we ended up in A&E because as well as the back pain he was struggling to swallow. They took blood and did a chest xray. Five hours later we were told that it was probably slipping rib syndrome and were given diazepam and more dihydracodiene. The diazepam made him delirious so we stopped that. On the 13 January I made an appointment with a private GP and he had an abdominal ultrasound yesterday because the GP suspected kidney stones. The ultrasound showed no abnormality in the abdomen.
Neither of us are sleeping and I’m at a total loss regarding next steps. We don’t see the Parkinson’s consultant until 17 July. I honestly don’t know who or where to turn to for help. Could this be a PD symptom???
Thank you for reading.
