I am Parkinson’s specialist dietitian, working for the NHS, and the service is changing reducing time I spend with this patient group and also they are looking to making the referral criteria tighter which may mean many patients do not get to see a dietitian. I am looking for advice to justify the importance of this specialist role which seems to be a very rare role and I feel this needs to be protected.

It is heartbreaking to see a service that people rely on being stripped back just to meet a new set of criteria. People living with this condition already feel like they are losing control over so much, and taking away the one person who helps them manage their basic nutrition is a massive blow. Your role provides a level of stability and expertise that keeps people in their homes and out of wards. See if you can gather some patient testimonials to show the real-world impact of your consultations before the cuts are finalized.
