Hi all, I am a medical student currently doing a project on how effectively Parkinson’s dementia is diagnosed/managed under my local service. I was wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with this and whether there is anything particularly meaningful that would help you during the process.
Thank you so much for any answers, I appreciate it tremendously!
Hi I have just posted something that may be related to this topic. See below
woke up this morning wondering why my children were never in, only for a moment, I then realized that they are grown up and have their own homes, I felt slightly confused for a minute and had to think hard about this? It was a bit surreal, not sure if it is related to PD, Dementia or anything else.
Hi, waynesmith. Thank you for sharing this. Changes like this can sometimes be part of Parkinson’s, but it’s also important to consider other factors like stress, fatigue, or even just the normal transitions that come with life. If you’re feeling uncertain, it might be helpful to talk to your healthcare professional or Parkinson’s nurse, as they can offer some guidance and help make sense of what’s going on. This is also happening to my husband he was diagnosed in April 2023.
He takes Modopar 50/12.5mg 3xday and has been ok. But the last few weeks he has needed a nap in the afternoon on the bed but on waking he gets very confused and thinks it’s next day and can not comprehend it’s not whatever I say. I wondered if his modopar is too high or too low or start of dementia?

Hi, Rach1. I’m really sorry to hear about the challenges your husband has been facing. It’s definitely worth discussing these changes with your husband’s healthcare professional or Parkinson’s nurse. They can help assess whether adjustments to the medication or further evaluation is needed.

I believe some side effects of the medication can be confusion and other physiological events. Discuss with your PD nurse.
Intermittent fasting and Coconut oil in black coffee can help neurological conditions I believe.
Best wishes
Thank you Lar I will certainly look into that.
Appreciate your reply and thank you Candice. I have phoned your helpline.
