Hi, does anyone have experience or knowledge of the potential impact of chemo on PD?
I’ve had PD for a few years and generally have learned to manage the symptoms and live as healthy as I can within that by sorting out my sleep, diet, exercise, meditation, Ayurveda etc alongside different medications they settled on Co-careldopa.
Recently been diagnosed with lymphoma and haven’t yet started the chemo. Has anyone any experience of dual PD/Cancer diagnosis? Or experience of the interaction of chemo and PD? I was surprised by how little information seems to be around.
Thanks a lot in hope that there’s anything anyone can add! Mark
@MarkFras Hi. I was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago, had chemo, surgery, radiotherapy, the works. Everything seemed ok until 2019 when I found out I had incurable secondary cancer. I was given a chemo drug in tablet form which I still take 5 years later. At that time I was also having trouble with my left arm. Long story short, that led to a PD diagnosis in 2021. I take co-careldopa for that and Opicapone.
I can’t really say if there has been any interaction with the drugs I take apart from earlier this year. I was given Ropinirole to counter dopamine wear off. Four hours after my first tablet I was ill, vomiting, nausea etc. so stopped taking it.
Whether that was drug interaction, who knows.
For me, all my meds are currently doing their job with no apparent problems. I’m still fairly active.
Cheers
