Parkinson's Walking Glasses

Good evening all. These sound too good to be true but come at a price. But I am tempted to give them ago. I have chased miracle cures for medical problems in the past, specifically for Osteoarthritis. spending hundreds of pounds on lost causes. Has anybody used this product and could you please post a review for them?

Parkinsons Walking Glasses – Improving Mobility for People with Parkinsons

Hi. It sounds like an interesting piece of kit. I assume you have difficulty walking?

I’ve just been looking at the website. WOW! They are expensive.

I raised an eyebrow when I read they use Visual Cueing technology used in fighter pilot helmets! Then when I saw the view through the glasses, all I saw was a horizontal green line. There is no explanation (that I could see) as to how to use them. Is it a case of maybe keeping the horizontal line on the horizon or something? That would naturally improve your posture which I imagine would improve your gait :man_shrugging:. Who knows?

For me personally, at that price I’d have to weigh up the cost v potential benefit. I would certainly want to know what their returns policy is in the event you felt no benefit or improvement. I’d like to think they allow me, at that price, to designate targets simply by looking at them and track my head movements with high precision, so my sensors, radar, and weapons can be slaved to my line of sight

Joking aside, if you take the plunge and buy them, I’d be interested to hear from you about their effectiveness.

Cheers
D

Good morning Wildrover … I was involved in a free trial of these walking glasses about
4-6 months ago. They look really good on, bit like top end sunglasses. Dusty describes them well. Very comfortable. You have to be disciplined in keeping them charged.

I stoop when walking and these glasses helped with that. I do feel they helped me but you never know whether you are having a good day.

Yes they are a lot of money.

Every one is different what works for some doesn’t work for others. If you think they will help they will.

Maybe speak to them about a trial period.

Best wishes

@Steve2 is it just a case of trying to maintain the green line on your horizon?

You would spend all day muttering “Talk to me Goose…” under your breath!

Yes. But you do not notice it after a while.

Ah ok. So I imagine it will be the gyroscopic sensors that make it so expensive. Thanks Steve

These glasses are in the Parkinson’s UK tech guide, where you can see a panel review and user reviews

It’s completely understandable to feel cautious. At the moment there’s no cure for Parkinson’s and some products make claims that are not backed up by strong evidence. Before spending money it can be worth checking with your GP or specialist.
