PD Meds before colonoscopy

Dear fellow PD travelers,

Happy New Year.

I am booked to have a colonoscopy in the morning of 8 January and I would like to know what changes (if any) I should make to my medication intake prior to best manage my PD symptoms.

“Preparation” for the colonoscopy involves the use of laxatives from noon the day before to completely empty the lower bowel, and I expect this will also interfere with my Levodopa meds (primarily 6 x Stalevo 150mgLD, 3 hr intervals from 6am plus 4 x Half Sinemet CR 100mgLD at bedtime)

Are there any measures I can take to improve my experience, or do I just have to tolerate it as best I can?

I have asked the colonoscopy provider, who has told me to ask my GP (as he will know my complete health situation); and my GP - who made the original referral -has told me to go back to the provider (as they are expert in what their procedure will impact).

All suggestions or experiences welcome.

My husband is in the same boat. he has a colonoscopy booked and is worried about meds. Did you get any advice. And how was it if you went ahead with the colonoscopy?

When I had mine I was told to keep taking my PD meds as close to schedule as possible with small sips of water, even during prep but definitely confirm with your neurologist if you can. The laxatives did make absorption a bit unpredictable, so I just planned a quiet recovery day and kept expectations low.
