Personal safety on the forum

I'm just wondering if Emily is having to work overtime, especially over the holiday season she has been kept very busy.Just thinking has she been paid for all the extra time?I'm not saying she shouldn't be its her job and hours of her time.If she has I know the forum is a big part of some of our lives and safety and well being of members is important, but if we all tried to get on, money could be spent in more research into possible a cure, fund more pd nurse, ect.
Well put dotty.......

Did you know the Michael J Fox Foundation in the USA last year spent 77% ($33 million dollars) of the money it received via fund-raising, to support Research in to finding a cure for parkinsons disease. The PDS last year spent just 27% (£5 million pounds)of money received on supporting research. The rest was spent on information, education, care and service provision. This included things like forum moderators, information leaflets/books about PD (most of which you can find on the net anyway),admin/staff costs along with providing very limited funding towards specialist PD nurses.

Given we are constantly being told the UK is a world leader in the field of medical research, then i for one would rather see the PDS spend more of its income on funding research in to finding a cure and less on moderating forums and producing mountains of leaflets and books.......

Changing the subject but what puzzles me is why are there so many guests (106 at the moment) on the forum as opposed to members? Perhaps Emily could enlighten us?
Hi Carol,

Guests can be either members who have not bothered to log in, or non-members who are just reading. All posts are available to anyone to read - you only need to log in as a member to post messages. The PDS website attracts quite a large number of visitors, and many of these pay a visit to the forum while they are there. So best behaviour everyone - anyone could be reading our words!! lol

Peter.
