phantom smell

Recently I have been having a sense of burning, it does not last long, does anyone else have the same experience please?

Hi @Chas13,

I’m sorry you haven’t heard from anyone sooner on this. Pain can be a major issue for some people with Parkinson’s, there are different types of pain associated with the condition including the burning sensation that you’ve been feeling in your leg.

Sometimes, common ways of reducing pain, such as doing regular gentle exercise, massage or taking painkillers, can help. However, it can be really difficult so I’d advise you to speak to your GP, specialist or Parkinson’s nurse as soon as you can about this. We also have a extensive information on pain on our website which includes advice on different options to help you manage your pain. You can find this information here - https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/pain.

In addition to this, you can speak to one of our advisers via our confidential helpline for more support on this. Please give us a call on 0808 800 0303.

Best wishes,
Reah

Hello Reah
Thank you for your response, I am sorry it took me so long to reply but I have been away. The burning smell I sense is not a pain, but every so often I sense a burning smell, and I wondered if anyone else has had a burning smell.
Kindest regards. Chas

Hi @Chas13,

No need to apologise at all. I’m sure you’ll hear from our members soon, however, you are more than welcome to contact our helpline and to speak to one of our advisers about this.

Best wishes,
Reah

Hi Chas13, can I ask has the burning smell stopped and if so, how long did it last? Was there a trigger that started it all? Did it stop on its own? I’ve just started smelling something very unpleasant and no one seems to have any suggestions what I can do. Thanks Neil
