Pharmacy issued alternative medication

My pharmacy issued levoidopa/benserazide instead of carbidopa/levodopa. Is this acceptable? It doesn’t seem right to me.

Hi @Steve34, thank you for sharing this note here.

If you’re unsure, it’s something worth checking with your pharmacist or Parkinson’s team. It’s understandable that it doesn’t feel right if it’s different from what you normally receive.

If you’d like to speak to someone in our team about this (or any other concern), please remember you can reach us on 0808 800 0303 - we’re always here for you.

Sending our warmest wishes

Hi there, the chemist my Husband gets his medication from once gave him the “cheaper” ( the pharmacists words not ours)version of his medication, they said the GP had changed his prescription. He was really out of sorts with the change and his PD went into massive overdrive….we had to ring his consultants secretary and explain what they had done and the consultant emailed the GP to say that he had no right to just change his medication. He told the GP that he could not over ride the consultants prescription…since then my husband has been prescribed his normal medication…hopefully this won’t happen again. So if you change of medication is not working it may be worth contacting your actual consultant and asking them to act on your behalf? Good luck!
