Produodopa

I need some advice for a friend on Produodopa. He is 82. Would anyone know if he is eligible for treatment and who offers it in the UK. He will be a private patient from the USA. Much appreciated. Ash

Hi AshK,

Thank you for reaching out. You would need to speak with a health care professional to understand eligibility for treatment. We have a free helpline full of helpful advisers that might be able to help with your query more in detail: 0808 800 0303.

You can also email us at [email protected] if you would prefer that method. We hope other members are able to share their experiences with you.

Parkinson’s UK Moderation Team

Produodopa is still quite new in the UK and availability can vary, usually through larger neurology centres or specialist Parkinson’s clinics. Eligibility depends on factors like disease stage, response to other treatments, and overall health, so only a specialist can confirm. Since your friend is coming as a private patient from the USA, it’s best to contact major centres directly and look under “advanced therapies” for Parkinson’s, where it’s often listed alongside treatments like apomorphine or DBS.
