Hi, husband is on co-careldopa and I’m struggling to work out how much is too much protein to make the drug effective. He’s due a call with health centre nurse tomorrow about latest blood tests - low in calcium and low in Vit D - and is also pre-diabetic so trying to modify meals. I’m not sure we have too much protein - I’m assuming a big steak every day is probably what is deemed ‘too much’. This has never been part of his diet. Thanks for any comments.
Hi Gillian
The simple answer is, everyone is different. I actually find eating something whether it be a small portion of protein or carbs, after my Co-careldopa actually helps me feel better.
As for calcium deficiency, ask your Dr to prescribe Stexerol. It is Vitamin D and helps absorb calcium from food. I drink a pint of milk everyday, as well as yoghurt and other foods rich in calcium.
Hope this helps
Cheers
D
Thanks, Dusty. He’s currently taking Viridian Vit D drops (when he remembers) but he’s now got Stexerol on the list of the things to discuss tomorrow. Thank you. He hates milk but does have cheese and yoghurt.
The good thing is, it looks like there are no contraindications with all his other meds!
