I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 4 years ago. I have been my partner’s carer for the last 17 years He has a spinal injury and limited mobility. Interested to know if there are other PWP who are also carers.
Hello, Firstly I’m sorry to hear that you have to be a carer whilst managing Parkinson’s.
I’m a pwp who cares for my sister who has Multi Systems Atrophy. Her diagnosis came before mine (my pd diagnosis is in the last 6months and is at quite a manageable stage) and her condition has now made her unable walk and do basic daily things.
If you want to share your experiences I’m happy to do so too.
Sorry for long delay in replying. Things have come to a head and my partner and I now feel residential care is the only option. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago and things were manageable but now his condition has deteriorated and he needs nursing care and I’m finding it difficult. Hope you will
get all the help that you can in caring for your sister.
