Please can I get some advice on how others have gone about Residential care. How are people supposed to be able to afford getting the care they need with parkinsons when the cost is so high for live in care. My mum cannot afford these prices they require.
Hi unfortunately Parkinson’s UK no longer have any homes/centres, which I feel is very short sighted. When you pay every year or, as in my parents case, help run support groups for Parkinson’s there is very little support of this kind. I do agree that finding treatments and possibly a cure for this dreadful condition is important, for many this is not really much help. They do need practical help with later stages of the condition, such as financial support for care home costs or specific homes for those with Parkinsons. I live in one of the oldest demographic areas in the country, so we need homes in the SW to help the older suffers now.
