Respite Nursing Homes

I really need some help/advice on which nursing homes might be able to cater for my dads needs for regular respite. We have recently been let down by Avery Healthcare as they said my dads needs were too high, they didn’t have enough staff etc etc (I got the feeling it wasn’t worth their time for a weeks respite) and my mum is at breaking point. My Dad has suffered with Parkinsons for over 15 years now (early onset) and now has dementia too. He also has the pump and dbs, which I realise is a lot to deal with for any home. I just wondered whether anybody had any good experiences with any particular care homes that were more catered to these needs? any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to our community forum. We understand finding the best care for your dad is a challenge. We would encourage you to reach out to our advisory team on the helpline, on 0808 800 0303, and a specialist will be able to assist with evaluating care options in your area. You may also wish to peruse our website for additional information. We suggest starting here: Palliative care | Parkinson's UK.

We hope this helps.

With our warmest welcome,
