My partner has fairly long-standing Parkinsons (first diagnosed 2017). I am her carer, and she is now suffering from almost continuous severe abdominal pain. This responds to her Madopar dose but only for a short time (or not at all in some cases).
Her GP has prescribed Famotidine, but this does not seem to help much.
Are there any people out there with similar problems - if so, any wisdom on how to help/mitigate/deal with them?!
Hi @Jenny45 we’re really sorry to hear your partner is experiencing such severe abdominal pain, that sounds incredibly hard for both of you. Because the pain is ongoing and not consistently responding to her medication, it’s really important to speak again with her GP, Parkinson’s nurse or another healthcare professional so they can review what’s happening and look at the best next steps.
We do have some resources on managing pain, which hopefully you might find useful: Parkinson’s UK | Pain
Alternatively, if you’d like to talk things through with someone directly, our free, confidential helpline is here for you both: 0808 800 0303
