All of a sudden 2 weeks ago I started to get awful pain in my left leg, and I can’t get shot of it (the pain not the leg). Painkillers and Ibuprofen gel don’t make much difference. Will I have to put up with the pain forever or has anyone on here had it then found it goes away?
Hello,
If you haven’t already, i would book a GP appointment to rule out a clot or something else more sinister.
I was diagnosed in October 2020. Pain in lower back started 6 months prior to this date. Then I started getting pain in thigh and groin. Had acupuncture, massages, several different chiropractors, had private yoga sessions, NHS physio, NHS pain management - all to no avail. Then I started medications - quite a few to date!
I’ve now established that the pain occurs on my ‘off’ times of PD meds. I’m usually in chronic pain at least once a day which lasts for 3hrs (until I take my next PD meds) and I never know when its going to happen.
My consultant has just started me on Rotigotine patches but I wont know how effective these are until the beginning of January.
Pain is my main symptom of PD.
If your pain is related to PD then you have my full sympathy.
3 weeks ago my husband developed severe pain both legs. Dr diagnosed sciatica . Not sure if Parkinson’s is the cause of the pain.Mobilisation is very difficult .having strong medication Betec 10 micro grams patches plus paracetamol. Comfortable when still but as soon as he weight bears a lot of pain.
Hi Carlotta,
We’re sorry to hear this. Like other members of the forum, we recommend you reach out to your GP or Parkinson’s Nurse so they can follow this up with you.
Best wishes

Hello I’m 70 & was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in June 2023. I also have / had
left leg / foot pain, with a bit of swelling. I was diagnosed with neuropathy & have had tests to prove it. I take Amitriptyline for it, which has controlled the swelling & the pain, This drug also helps my arthritis pain. An excellent drug.
Strongly recommend it.
Best wishes
