I’ve just started lowest dose of cardilopa 12.5/50 . It’s made me exhausted. Does this wear off?
Hi, Alison6.
It’s not uncommon to experience fatigue when starting a new medication. They are designed to help manage Parkinson’s symptoms, but they can take some time for your body to adjust to. Some people find that the initial tiredness or exhaustion does lessen over time as their body gets used to the medication.
If you continue to feel very tired or if the exhaustion doesn’t improve, it might be a good idea to speak to your GP or Parkinson’s specialist. They can adjust your dosage or look into other factors that could be contributing to your fatigue.
You can also find more information about managing fatigue on our website which might help.
Take care!

I believe some people do get tiredness when taking levadopa around 15% .I think there could be a trade off which is worse the symptoms or the tiredness?
Levadopa treats the symptoms not the disease progression.
I believe nicotine patches can be protect the nurons and help the brain produce more levadopa start with 7mg twice a week , Monday patch on Tuesday off then Thursday patch on Friday patch off . Any more duration would shut down the signalling pathways. I believe it takes two to three months to work.
Have a look on YouTube about nicotine patches it is very interesting the science behind it .
Also red light therapy aka photobiomoduation and intermittent fasting can also help I believe.
