Can someone pls advise me the best way to space out my Sinemet. I have only just worked my way up to the 4 a day dose but I’m not seeing my Consultant for another two weeks. I started taking them at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and the last at 8pm. This leaves me with a twelve hour gap, is this ok?
Hello Margs, I am not sure if I can give you a complete answer as I am only at the three level, however, I have no problem with a 12 hr break during the night.I would have thought the build up generated by taking 4 a day would be ample to see you through the night. If you are in any doubt I would speak to your PD nurse
Thank you MalcT. Unfortunately I don’t have a nurse and I’m not seeing my Consultant for a couple of weeks. I will just stick to my timings for now.
I have only recently been diagnosed and I am a bit confused about a number of things.
Hi @Margs,
A warm welcome to the forum.
I agree with Margs, you should definitely consult with a Parkinson’s nurse regarding your medication. If you contact our helpline on 0808 800 0303, one of our advisers can arrange for a Parkinson’s nurse to call you back within 24 hours. Given that you currently have to wait a couple of weeks to see a your consultant, I highly recommend you contact them as soon as you can.
All the best and do keep us posted on how you get on.
Best wishes,
Reah
Thank you Reah, the line is busy but I have left a message for someone to call me back.
Hi MalcT. I was struggling to work out when the best times were for taking Madopar and a Parkinson’s nurse on the help line explained the best times to take it, especially with regard to mealtimes etc. Now, finally, after several months on Madopar I am feeling that it is having an effect. Well worth pursuing.
Hi Margs,
Please confirm when you’ve spoken to them. If not, I can chase them up on this.
Best wishes,
Reah
No I havn’t had a call back. Will try again later today.
Hi Rubyduby, I realise your post was not for me but for Margs it must be all the Ms. It is nice though to add another member to my contact list, if thats ok?
Hi. I take 4 a day too.7-30, 11, 2-30 and 6 o clock. My pd specialist recommends these times. Xxx you don’t need them during the night as you are not moving around ,
Thank you for your replies.
A Parkinson’s nurse has just phoned me and we discussed my medication, Dot was very helpful and I will stay with my 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm as this will also avoid my mealtimes.
Margs
Hi @Margs,
I have chased our helpline service up on this so hopefully you should receive a call back as soon as possible.
Best,
Reah
That’s fine.
