Spatial awareness and parking

hi I am just curious
I gave up driving a few years ago as my spatial awareness or lack of it had begun to have a noticeable effect and I didn’t feel safe .
Luckily I had no accidents even minor ones.
Recently I was talking to a group of 6 PWP . Four of these 6 had had accidents which involved stationary vehicles or walls being hit when parking or starting off within last 3 months.
Is this a common problem or just a coincidence?

Hi, a couple of years ago I mentioned to my Parkinson’s nurse that I found parking difficult and she confirmed that loss of spatial awareness is a common symptom. To date I’ve not hit anything but I try not to park next to other cars if at all possible and co-incidentally I’ve today put in an application for a blue badge as these spaces in car parks are usually much wider.

Has the lack of spatial awareness been reported to the DVLA?

I would think that notifying dvla would be appropriate
this would risk assessment and possible loss of licence and I know this means loss of independence .
But spatial awareness or lack of it has a much more serious impact on driving than just parking .
