I was diagnosed last year (44yo male) and I’ve had ups and downs but at the moment I feel very bad for my partner and kids.
I’ve been known to snore (the Mrs kindly recorded evidence ) but now I add into the mix quite severe tremors every time I wake up to roll over, which coincidentally now takes 5 times longer than it used to.
If we share a bedroom, I always wake up feeling immense guilt if I’ve kept them a wake by either snoring my head off or my persistent movement. I’m worried about nodding off in public (long flights).
This morning I woke up particularly upset and feeling like I wish I was just locked away in another room so I can get through the night and they can sleep peacefully.
Hi @John81. It’s lovely to see you back on the forum, although I’m really sorry to hear that things have been so difficult for you lately.
Please don’t be hard on yourself - it’s clear how much you care about your partner and children, and you’re not choosing to have these symptoms.
It sounds like it would be worth having a chat with your Parkinson’s nurse or specialist, if you have one, about the tremors in bed. And your GP might also be able to help look into the snoring and any daytime sleepiness.
You’re always also welcome to call our free, confidential helpline on 0808 800 0303. Our trained experts and specialist nurses are on hand anytime between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturdays. I know that sometimes it helps just to have someone to speak to.
And please don’t apologise for getting your thoughts down here. That’s what this community is for, and hopefully other members will share their own experiences too - we’re sure they can empathize with what you’re going through.
