I can’t understand your medical teams response to your request for exenatide. I was on the trial and when it finished we were given the opportunity to continue taking it. My Gp was unwilling to prescribe it because it was off label for parkinsons but my neurologist had no problem prescribing it. The only proviso is that certain blood tests are carried out to keep an eye on the possibility of pancreatitis. I have been injecting myself with exenatide for 3 years now and still get my prescriptions from my neurologist. I am sure if you agreed to have the blood tests they might be swayed

I agreed to all of the relevant monitoring and testing, but at the end of the day it comes down to money. The local CCG wants to save a few quid, and justify it by claiming it is experimental and that there is insufficient evidence of benefit. I haven’t given up hope just yet, and have Norman Lamb fighting my corner.
