I’m new to PD and to the forum, so I hope this post makes sense and is in the right place!
Over the last three weeks I’ve had two periods (about 48 hours at a time, starting acute and then wearing off) of what I can only describe as muzziness or brain-swimming. Feels a bit like being seasick - dizzy, nauseous, waves of sweat, disconnected and even basic tasks are almost impossible.
I’m confused as to whether this is just par for the course and a new PD symptom or an effect of just starting Co-careldopa (12.5) or, as a neurophysio website suggested, a form of migraine stemming from my stooped posture. Certainly my chronic neck pain seems worse at these times and it has always happened at the end of a few days in an office chair, when both body and brain are tired.
I’d really like to know how to manage it and knowing where it stems from could be a good first step so I thought I’d ask all of you experts by experience.
It sounds like you may be experiencing some side affects to your Parkinson’s medication which (unfortunately) is common to a lot of people with Parkinson’s.
The best way to manage side effects of your Parkinson’s medication is to talk to your Parkinson’s nurse or specialist about adjusting your treatment regime. To check what specific side effects your medication can have, read the information leaflet that comes inside the packet.
We’ve listed some general information about side effects in our information about individual Parkinson’s drugs
You can also give our helpline a call and speak to one of our advisers who can give you more support on this. They can also put you in contact with a Parkinson’s nurse so please give us a call on 0808 800 0303.
