Does anyone else find that if they spend time away from home like a weekend away their symptoms get worse. The last three times we have spent nights away from home my husband symptoms seem to get worse (hand tremors and leg pain) yet aboit 24hrs after we are back home everything is back under control
??
Hi @Cyril123, thank you for your post.
You’re not alone in noticing this. Some people mention that symptoms can change when routines change, eg sleeping in a different bed, travel fatigue, perhaps a day with extra activity, or different medication timings.
It can help to keep medication times as close to normal as possible, and try to recreate familiar routines when you’re away.
We’d love to hear from other members of this forum about whether they’ve experienced this, and whether they’ve found something that helps.
Sending our warmest wishes

As least I know now I was not imaging it. It is really strange to see symptoms suddenly change for no reason other than not being at home. I put it down to routine and feeling calm at home. Bit edgy when away. (Some would say its my driving![]()

Hi Cyril123,
I have Parkinson’s and find holidays, family gatherings and days out make me feel very tired now but I wouldn’t want to miss out on having quality time with my family. I think it’s part of having the condition because I try to do things that used to be easy for me and I now find it difficult.
I think there are a quite a few members on this forum that share the same problem. It’s great that you are both spending weekends away etc. but just allow for some quality rest time afterwards.
Best wishes
Dawn
The stress of holidays puts strain on the body ect. I think
It is hard we have family living in Lancashire which is about 300miles away. He wants to visit but it takes about a week to recover. Strong willed, just hope he can keep it going for a bit longer. ![]()
