The Continuing Care deadline in England fast approaching

In April we raised an alert on our website that the Department of Health in England had issued new deadlines to apply for NHS continuing care. One of the deadlines is fast approaching and this is a reminder. This affects anyone with Parkinson’s who should have been assessed for NHS continuing care but has never had an assessment. The next deadline limits the amount of time people can apply for NHS continuing care if they feel they should have been assessed and never had an assessment between 1 April 2004 and 31 March 2011. If you think you or a family member should have been assessed in that time, the deadline to notify the NHS you want to make a claim is 30 September 2012. You should notify your local Primary Care Trusts NHS continuing care team to say you want to make a claim. You can find your team here: http://bit.ly/QdxL95 The deadlines do not apply to anyone who is already receiving NHS continuing care, or has already applied for it, or is going through a process of appeal. In this case, you – or the person you represent – doesn’t need to take any action. The information is only for people who feel they should have been assessed and haven’t been. If you think this applies to you, find out more at http://bit.ly/UgE5kl If you’d like to discuss with us whether you may be affected, call our helpline on 0808 800 0303 or email [email protected] Donna
