The 'Hard Stare'!

So I’m at least 5 yrs in since diagnosis of Idiopathic PD. The meds are working as well as can be expected; some side effects though. I’m active, i go to the gym to knock out 5km on rowing machine in 30 mins, half hour on the bike, weights etc, so i’m relatively fit for a PwP.

But, there’s one thing i kinda forgot about and that is, my face. I was asked recently why i wasn’t smiling in my daughters wedding pics. My reply was PD has taken my smile. I tended to stare with a bit of a frown. It was just a matter of time before someone approached me for an ‘explanation’ :joy: to put it mildly.

I decided to act. Daily, i give my face a good massage, make funny screwed up, surprised looking and any kinda face expression i can manage. Get those facial muscles working. It works to a degree.

But another tip if you suffer from this. Go to YouTube and look for your favourite, act, show, comedian, comedy sketch etc. that makes you laugh. And i mean a real belly laugh. I find my expression gets the exercise it needs and lifts my mood too.

Does this help anyone? What makes you laugh? ‘Chewin the Fat’, a Scottish comedy sketch show works for me.

Cheers

@Dusty68 my go to on Youtube is a Jamaican Lady who lives in Alaska. When she starts laughing it only takes a few seconds for me to start laughing.
