Treatment for Anxiety

Hi all

My husband is suffering from extreme anxiety and I am looking for suitable treatment for him. He has been prescribed antidepressants and he is still waiting for them to kick in. I do also feel that some therapy would help but I want to make sure it is the right one.

Has anyone had experience of CBT or general counselling - good or bad?

I would be interested to hear. Unfortunately I have not found any therapy specifically for PD patients and I feel like I am going round in circles. The mental health team couldn’t help because his anxiety was related to PD and the PD team couldn’t help as they are not specialists in mental health.

As anxiety is so common with PD patients isn’t it time there was a dedicated mental health support service? Maybe there is and I am just not aware of them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I would give the Parkinson’s help line a ring. I am sure they will be able to help you.
Anti depressants can take a while to kick in.
I honestly don’t know much about the others. But I have heard that maybe if he had talking therapy that may help him to air his fears, anger etc.
As I said before the best place to start would be the Parkinson’s help line.
Sorry I can’t be of much help to you.
