Hope it’s ok to ask this sort of question here, but I’m trying to solve a problem for my father in law. He is living with Parkinson’s. He is from Portugal but has lived in the UK for several decades. He lives in a in UK care home and watches a good deal of TV. We wanted to see if we could set him up with TV channels from Portugal via an amazon fire stick and have managed to download an app onto the fire stick to allow him to do this. However navigating using the TV remote and the fire stick remote is too much for him.
Has anybody managed to find a big button remote which can be preset so you can go from a UK terrestrial channel to a pre selected streamed channel, in one go? Many thanks
Hi Tot. Seems that the control only works with set top boxes and not streaming devices like a Fire Stick. Pity. Gap in the market maybe, as we all stream more and more
Hello again windrush. This isn’t what you were aasking about but it maybe the case it can simplify things a little for your father-in-law, It seems you can set up a favourites list of tv programmes (channels??) with an Amazon fire stick. I wondered if you might be able to add the streamed ones from Portugal. I just put in the search how to create a favourites tv channels on an Amazon fire stick and all sorts came up including some you tube videos. Perhaps it is worth looking at? As I say I don’t know whether this helps at all and I am certainly no expert so could be talking a load of rubbish. Maybe if you can get a favourites list you can find a big button, simple remote that will work with it. Just an idea but don’t know if will help or if it will work but I will leave that to you to figure out if you want to. Feel free to ignore this if it’s a non starter. The links are just two of many pages that came up.
Tot
