Passenger assist on UK trains booking assistance is now a little bit easier. You can now turn up and go at many stations now but you may have to wait if the staff are busy helping other passengers. So if you can its best to book 24 hrs in advance which means they will be waiting for you to make yourself known at your staring station. I’ve used passenger assist a number of times and apart from the odd little hiccup (due to bus replacement) its been great.
Thank you so much for sharing @Johanmb, we’re sure this will help so many people.
Sending you all our best wishes.

I had to use the assistance service a couple of years ago on a long journey with two changes - each way. If nothing else i was kept up to date with the general situation. This was important as the on the outbound journey became apparent that something was amiss on the railway. The Union had chosen that day to go on strike. Consequently three trainloads of intending passengers boarded the first available train. It was standing room only and those sardines near the toilets must have had their toes flattened more than once. For better or worse i did not have my trolley with me. Just as well in the overcrowding ], but hard work just relying on my stick.
@hatter1951 Over the last year or so the assistance service has got better and where 3 or 4 years ago I’ve had issues, since the changes no issues. My last trip I had a bus replacement and even that went smooth
