My husband has Parkinson’s, and it has recently worsened, making it harder for him to work. He’s considering leaving his job, but since he works full-time while I work part-time, losing his income would put a strain on our finances. We currently don’t claim any benefits (as far as I know) for his condition, so I’m wondering what support might be available to us. I’ve checked tax calculator and other websites but haven’t found much on disabilities—hoping someone here can help!
Welcome to our community forum. You’re sure to hear from the group soon, but in the meantime we would encourage you to reach out to our helpline team on 0808 800 0303. They have a fleet of services they can provide, and help with paperwork, finding financial aid, etc, is one of the most common. They’ve made life easier for loads of people and will be happy to chat with you or your husband.
Hi,
I’ve had to give up my job because it was too difficult to carry on due to having Parkinson’s so I rang up to see if I can claim PIP.
I’ve sent back the very long form they sent me and now waiting to see if I get the payment.
There has been a lot on the news about cuts in benefits which is very unfair for people like us.
What I will say is that a very lovely lady who helps us on PD UK said to get back to her if they don’t award me with PIP and she will help me with the appeal process.
Good luck
Dawn
