Using an online Pharmacy

I’m 71 & have Parkinson’s & Spinal Stenosis. I have a blue disability badge which helps with where I can park my car. The pharmacy I have been using for the past 18 months is only 100 yards or so from my GP’s. I can park on the double yellow lines outside my GP’s & drop off my prescription & park in the same place when I’m going to the pharmacy to pick up my drugs.

Problem 1 … Sometimes my prescription is not ready & I have to come back the following day,
Problem 2 … There is always a queue & I have “gait freezing” & this has become too difficult to manage for me.

Does my pharmacy do deliveries? Yes they do. But they are not delivering to new people requiring this service. So I have tried Pharmacy2U & so far have found them excellent.

It was incredibly easy to start … I only ordered 3 drugs out of 11 drugs I have each month but when I went back to order the remaining 8 drugs they were already listed & all I had to do was tick a box. All free of charge.

I will of course advise if the service disappoints in future months.

But for customers like me where mobility is a real issue I think it warrants consideration. Other online pharmacies are available of course.

Best wishes

HI Steve so glad you managed to sort out your PX Quite a few years ago O worked at a GP surgery which all had a Pharmacy with it. I worked with the pharmsist as well for a while. I was taught how to do px on the computer I don’t know why but some people seem not to want to ask WHY !! can’t I have my PX it’s like when you go on holiday you need an 3 weeks that ask them, all they do is change it and say px required as going on holiday. I think we have to educate people about PD getting you medication on time, I change my GPs and went to the reception to ask for my meds, you will j=have to wait 5/6 day said the receptionist, the practice nurse was there and she had done a course about PD , the girl soon changed her mind how long it would take to get my meds.

Thanks for sharing your experience — it’s really helpful for others in similar situations. Totally agree that such services make a huge difference when mobility becomes a challenge. Another option worth considering is nextclinic.com.au. They offer fast online consultations with doctors and can issue prescriptions, medical certificates, and referrals - all from the comfort of home. Might be a great backup if you ever need a quick script sorted without the extra effort of getting to your GP or pharmacy.

Thanks Allay.

Would the GP service you mention be of much use to Parkinson’s UK patients? It seems to be an Australian Service.
